21 July 2018 At the time of the bill, the waiter was given a homophobic receipt that, in addition to the price, reported the phrase "fagot yes". A Roman gay couple reported the episode to the Gay Help Line which also offered him legal support. The two had gone last Thursday to the Locanda Rigatoni restaurant, near Piazza San Giovanni, to have dinner. The couple had gone to spend a quiet evening and they ordered some first courses, asking to replace some pecorino with parmesan.
At the end of the dinner, when the receipt arrived, they found written on the receipt: "Pecorino NO Frocio SI". The boys pointed out to the waiter that the writing was not funny, but the laughing waiter explained that it had been a computer error. The boy pointed out that the waiter's attitude was childish and insulting. At that point the owner intervened, reiterating that it had been a computer problem, trying to minimize.

Only after 30 minutes of discussion, the owner, without ever apologizing, said that she would not charge the bill. As if this were not enough, the waiter came back complaining to the boys "for having made a bad impression with the other customers" "What happened at the restaurant" Locanda Rigatoni "is a very serious fact - says Fabrizio Marrazzo, Gay Help Line manager and Gay Center spokesman - Unfortunately
every year we receive over 20,000 contacts at our service, for episodes of homophobia, and many of these episodes are seen as amusing by the attackers even in cases of violence. What happened is nothing funny. It is not acceptable that a gay couple cannot go to a restaurant in the center of the capital without being offended and ruining the evening. We ask Sindata Raggi to revoke the restaurant license and also evaluate the penalties to be adopted. Restaurants are publicly licensed premises and therefore discriminatory actions cannot be allowed. Furthermore, we immediately invite all citizens and tourists to boycott this restaurant. "The action of" civil boycott "against the restaurant has already started on the web.

Capitol: very serious episode
"The episode of homophobia reported by Gay Center is very serious. We openly condemn all forms of discrimination and ridicule damaging dignity and personal freedom". This was stated in a joint note by Carlo Cafarotti, Councilor for Economic Development, Tourism and Labor of Roma Capitale and Flavia Marzano, Councilor for Simple Rome. "As for the context in which the offenses took place, we remember that Rome is, and will remain, the capital of inclusion and hospitality, so much so that it has set up just for the professionals who work with the public - restaurateurs, hoteliers, taxi drivers - courses training focused on the 'reception etiquette'. Appropriate verifications will be started in any case, also following the eventual denunciation. We express solidarity with the two boys victims of ignorance. Similar episodes offend the whole city ", they conclude.

The restaurant fires the waiter
"We are very sorry for what happened, the waiter was immediately fired this morning". The owner of the 'Locanda Rigatoni' restaurant in Rome said so, where a waiter beat a receipt by inserting a homophobic sentence against a couple of gay customers. "We are not a local of homophobic people - reiterated the owner - I am sorry that this episode must muddy our name". The young waiter, in his early twenties, worked occasionally in that place, only on days with more reservations.
