RB Salzburg's 19-year-old Norwegian goalscorer Erling Braut Haaland was recruited by Dortmund until June 2024, Borussia announced on Sunday.

The transfer is estimated at 20 M EUR by Bild who specifies that the prodigy, second best scorer in the group stage of the Champions League with 8 goals, had a release clause in his contract with the Austrian club.

The BVB, which will face Paris Saint-Germain in the round of 16 of C1 on February 18 and March 11, has managed to attract the Scandinavian nugget "despite the many offers from the best clubs in all of Europe", welcomes its executive director Hans-Joachim Watzke.

At 19 years and 58 days, Haaland became in September the third youngest author of a hat-trick (against Genk) in the queen competition. Only stars Raul and Wayne Rooney had achieved this feat even younger.

Haaland is also the first player under the age of twenty to score in his first five C1 matches.

"I had intensive discussions with the club management and the sports management, in particular with Hans-Joachim Watzke, Michael Zorc and coach Lucien Favre. From the start, I absolutely wanted to join the club," says Haaland.

"The Norwegian will join the team on January 3 and will go to training camp in Marbella (Spain) the next day," said the Ruhr club.

The Schwarz-Gelben, fourth in the Bundesliga 7 points behind leader Leipzig, were looking for a real center-forward to support Paco Alcacer, inconstant and the only real number nine in the squad.
