Since 2013, the police in Halland have organized volunteer activities and during the spring, it will also start in Falkenberg and Hylte.

- Very exciting. We have benefited greatly from those we previously borrowed from Halmstad and Varberg, says Pontus Remdahl, municipal police in Hylte.

A complement

The idea with the volunteers is that they should complement the police in their work to create security and prevent crime. A link between the ordinary resident and the police. For example, by moving into a downtown environment, night hikes, helping out at major events and visiting residents in areas where there have been burglaries.

- You get a basic education that consists of several different parts. As law and justice, communication, conflict management, CPR and witnessing technology, says Linda Edman.

Recruitment in the spring

January is the first information meeting and recruitment will start in the spring. The police are looking for people with democratic values who are over 18, social and protect people's equal value. But those who receive volunteer assignments have no police powers.

- They are not employed by the police but act like everyone and everyone. The difference is that if something happens, they have direct communication with the local police, says Linda Edman.

The police are also looking for more volunteers to Varberg and Kungsbacka.

- It is a fantastic resource that can contribute a lot of hours to us. Especially in the work we do not have time for, says Linda Edman.
