Share

December 28, 2019 The death of the 5-month-old baby who had arrived in a coma in hospital after his mother violently shook him was formalized.

The medical commission, made up of a coroner, a neurologist and an anesthesiologist, decreed brain death following a second thorough examination, and the machines that kept the child alive were disconnected this morning. The prosecutor authorized the removal of the organs.

Now for the mother, initially investigated for very serious injuries, the accusation of manslaughter should be formalized. It was the woman who confessed to the carabinieri and the prosecutor Roberto Piccione that she was the one who violently shook the little one who could not fall asleep at dawn on Saturday.

According to her lawyer, Leonardo Massaro, the 29-year-old woman originally from Vicenza but residing with her family in Mestrino, would not have been in herself when she hurt her son.

The child was followed in these days by the intensive care doctors of the Pediatric clinic of Padua, led by Professor Giorgio Perilongo.
