The return of the heroes. Accustomed to invading the streets of Algiers to carry the demands of "Hirak", the protest movement which has been shaking the country since February 2019, the Algerians experienced an enchanted and unexpected parenthesis for a summer. Nearly 30 years after their only African coronation on their lands, the "Fennecs" have managed to achieve a second star during the African Cup of Nations in Egypt. In the absence of "new independence", Algeria celebrated the victorious epic of the men of Djamel Belmadi in an incredible popular jubilation. Young people, women, the elderly, and even members of the diaspora eager not to miss this historic day on any pretext, all swapped their political slogans with songs to the glory of the teammates of Riyad Mahrez. The umpteenth proof of the incomparable unifying power of football.
