Pablo Iglesias is personally involved in the negotiation with the toughest ERC stream. The secretary general of Podemos held a formal meeting with several Republican leaders on Monday, consolidating a second channel of dialogue with the independence leaders to achieve the investiture of the socialist Pedro Sánchez.
According to Efe informed sources of the meeting, the leader of the United Podemos coalition met on Monday 23 in Madrid with the president of ERC in the Parliament of Catalonia, Sergi Sabrià , and with the deputy Carolina Telechea . Specifically, in Congress.
So far, Podemos had had informal conversations with Republican leaders, but always from the background, because Iglesias himself said it was the Socialists who would pilot that negotiation, in which he would contribute if deemed necessary.
This Monday's meeting was the first "face to face" between Podemos and ERC and no concrete agreement was reached in it.
In addition to the investiture, other issues were addressed, such as possible budgetary agreements in Catalonia, after the joint step with the commons to approve fiscal agreements in that territory.
The Catalan confluence has kept open avenues of dialogue with the Republicans, and the spokesman in Congress, Jaume Asens , described that tax agreement reached by his training in Catalonia as a "runway" for the investiture.
