Japan's Emperor Naruhito and his wife, Empress Masako, visited Miyagi and Fukushima Prefectures in the northeast of the country today, Thursday, to meet those affected by Hurricane Hagibus, which occurred about two months ago.

According to the Japanese news agency, JJ Press, which reported the news, the visit is the first by Naruhito, 59, and Masako, 55, to the disaster area since the emperor ascended the throne on May 1 last year.

It is noteworthy that "Hagibis", one of the strongest typhoons that struck Japan for decades, swept the middle, eastern and northeastern parts of the country in mid-October.
