• Events: Investigate the suction system of the Mijas pool where a father and two of his children were drowned

The team of the Club La Costa World complex, in Mijas (Málaga), where a father and two of his children died in a swimming pool on Tuesday, reported that the Civil Guard has carried out "a complete investigation of which Extracts that the pool meets all the requirements and regulations in force ", so they have authorized the reopening of it.

This was stated on Wednesday in a statement, pointing out that "it would confirm that it was a tragic accident that has caused us a great commotion", while indicating that his main concern "remains the care and support for the family ", for what they have asked" to respect their privacy in these difficult times. "

They said they were "devastated by the tragedy" that occurred on Tuesday at 13.30 when the 53-year-old man and two of his children, aged 16 and nine, were found unconscious in the pool.

Thus, they have pointed out that "despite the quick and professional response of personnel, doctors and emergency services, nothing could be done to save their lives."

The Civil Guard keeps the investigation open to clarify the circumstances of the deaths and within the open hypotheses the suction systems and the operation of the pool of the complex have been investigated and, in addition, the results of the autopsy are awaiting to the bodies, sources of research have been indicated to Europa Press.

The first inquiries would point to an accident. Apparently, the nine-year-old girl was bathing and could not get out of the water, throwing her brother, 16, and her father, 53, to help her. However, the three members of this family, without knowing the reasons for the moment, died.

Several witnesses, among them the mother and another son and brother of the deceased, indicated that the girl could not get out of the water, hence her relatives launched themselves to help her.

In addition, a worker in the area, with experience in the aquatic environment, rescued the body and also told the agents the difficulties to get out of the pool.

One of the hypotheses that has been considered is to determine if a problem could have occurred in the pool's suction system, so that members of the Special Group of Underwater Activities (GEAS) of the Civil Guard moved to inspect the pool.

Agents also checked whether there were any of the deceased's clothes at the bottom of the pool, the pool's engines and water samples.

The Judicial Police of the Civil Guard made a statement to the people who were in the area as well as to the mother of the deceased minors, who has needed psychological help from the 112 Andalusia Emergency Service.
