On December 26, members of the PMC in the Krasnodar Territory visited Alyona Popova, who was sentenced two weeks ago by the Tuapse District Court to eight years in prison for murdering her friend Anastasia Muzheni on a wild beach in 2017, two years ago. Commission secretary Roman Shadrin told RT that the girl complained about her health condition and that she had to wait too long for medical care.

“Alena said that she started wheezing in her chest,” said a spokeswoman for the PMC. - She suffered from bronchitis several times during the consideration of her case in court and her stay in jail and detention center. She is afraid of complications. We called the head of the medical service of the detention center, he promised to deal with the issue. "

Popova also told members of the PMC that she had been awaiting the results of a blood test for a month and a half. Prior to her detention, she suffered from anemia and wants to know if her medical condition has worsened. The head of the pre-trial detention center promised to help in this.

In addition, Alena feels normal, she is not emotionally depressed, and even sometimes jokes when talking, Shadrin added. There were no complaints about the conditions of detention (four more people were sitting in the cell with Alena), the quality of food, the behavior of cellmates and employees of the detention center.

According to the representative of the PMC, Alena does not lose hope that the court of second instance will carefully consider the circumstances of the case and plead not guilty. The girl still expects to be released. Popova’s defense has already filed an appeal, the date of its consideration has not yet been set.

Earlier, RT talked about the mysterious murder of 20-year-old Anastasia Muzheni on a wild rocky beach near the village of Novomikhailovsky near Tuapse in 2017. Her body was found during the day by visitors to the beach under the canopy of a destroyed tent. The only suspect in the case was her friend Alena Popova, with whom they rested in Tuapse.

On the night of the murder, the girls quarreled and Popova left on her way home to Pyatigorsk.

In the evening, they called her from the police and said that Nastya was dead, and Alena herself was called as a witness. Police officers who came home for the girl detained her and brought her to Krasnodar, where they indicted on suspicion of the murder of Anastasia and detained her.

The case was considered in court in closed session at the request of the relatives of the deceased. Despite this, the closed process received wide resonance. Entire communities began to appear on social networks dedicated to investigating the murder of Anastasia Muzheni. In particular, ambiguous circumstances of the case of Alena Popova were heatedly discussed.

According to the sister of Alena Oksana Popova, who represents the interests of the girl in court, this sentence is based on indirect evidence of guilt.

In accordance with Art. 49 of the Constitution, all fatal doubts about the guilt of a person are interpreted in favor of the accused, but this was not done by the court, Oksana emphasizes.

The court, according to Sister Popova, was not embarrassed by conflicting data on either the timing of Anastasia’s death or the examination of Alena’s pants, on which some “brown spots” were found. Records of surveillance cameras were seized selectively; billing of telephone subscribers in the area of the beach at the time of the alleged commission of the murder was not carried out, she lists. All the evidence regarding Alena’s guilt, according to Oksana, either contains inaccuracies or is controversial.

“Also, the court was not able to describe her motivation for the murder, citing a“ sudden hostility. ” I’m reminding you, it’s about two closest friends, ”said Oksana Popova, RT.

The investigator in the case, Philippe Shevrikuko, according to the response of the UK, forgot his circumstances and was unable to answer RT questions.

The position of Alena Popova is complicated by the position of the injured party. The mother of the deceased Anastasia Larisa Muzhenya told RT that she was in solidarity with the investigation and the prosecution. The verdict against Alena completely satisfied her, she was sure of the girl's guilt.

In turn, Alena’s lawyer Olga Desyatova told RT that the injured party initially refused to get acquainted with the case file, almost did not follow the investigation and did not attend the meeting. If they paid more attention to the circumstances of the case, then perhaps their opinion about Alyona Popova and what the future is fair for her would have changed, the lawyer suggested.

RT will continue to monitor the situation.
