In the Krasnoyarsk Territory, the Mi-8 helicopter of the Krasnoyarsk Airlines company made an emergency landing. The aircraft followed the route from the village of Baykit to the Yurubchenskoye oil field and transported a group of shift workers.

The West Siberian Investigation Department for Transport of the IC of the Russian Federation opened a criminal case on the violation of traffic safety rules and the operation of air transport.

On board the helicopter were 24 people, including three crew members. According to the Ministry of Emergency Situations, during the take-off of the Mi-8 with passengers it fell into a snow whirlwind and made a hard landing at the territory of the Baykit airport.

“The tail boom and rotor blades are damaged at the aircraft. Oil products were not bottled and ignited, ”the department explained.

According to Interfax, the helicopter transported employees of the Baykit Oil and Gas Exploration Expedition (BNGRE), and Slavneft was the customer of the flight.

The liquidation of the consequences of the incident involved 40 people and six pieces of equipment. Information about the wounded varies. Immediately after the accident, three victims were reported, later their number was specified several times. According to the regional Ministry of Health, 16 people were injured.

“15 people asked for medical help, they were examined. Two people are hospitalized. The rest are prescribed outpatient treatment, ”TASS quoted a representative of the region’s medical services.

As specified in the Krasnoyarsk Ministry of Transport, the helicopter crash landing was released in 2017.

Mi-8 helicopters began to be developed in 1960, and their serial production began in 1965. This is a multifunctional machine that can solve various problems due to modernization at the expense of additional funds. The external suspension of the helicopter allows you to carry cargo weighing up to three tons.

Since the beginning of the year, a number of other incidents involving Mi-8 helicopters have occurred in Russia. So, in November 2019, a helicopter of this model made a hard landing near the village of Novy Port in Yamal. A machine transporting 22 shift workers and three crew members from the Novoportovskoye field to Novy Urengoy received damage to the tail boom and chassis. No one was injured in the incident.

In September, in the Saratov region, an MI-8 Ministry of Defense helicopter crashed. The car hit the ground and completely burned out on the taxiway of the Sokol airfield. On board were three crew members, all of them were able to evacuate and there were no casualties.

In Kamchatka, five people were injured in August when the Vertical-T Mi-8T helicopter made a hard landing in the Kronotsky nature reserve, following the route Kozyrevsk - Valley of Geysers.

In July, also in Kamchatka, the Mi-8T helicopter, following a technical flight from Mayskoye, made a hard landing on the Valley of Geysers site. On board the car owned by Yeltsovka, there were seven passengers and three crew members, all of them were injured.

In December 2018, another helicopter of the same company made a hard landing at the Kedrovy site in the Parabel district of the Tomsk Region. Onboard there were 22 passengers and three crew members. As a result of the incident, the helicopter was damaged and four people were injured.

In November of that year, the Barkol Mi-8T helicopter crashed in a wooded area in the Tver Region. There were two pilots on board the car that was coming from the Smolensk region, a flight mechanic and an employee of Transneft. As a result of the accident, one person died, three were injured.

The Mi-8T helicopter crashed in the Irkutsk region in September 2018. The crew of the aircraft at the time of the accident performed aerial photography. All crew members died. Based on the results of the investigation, the IAC Commission concluded that the most likely causes of the accident are loss of spatial orientation and piloting errors.

In August of that year, the Mi-8 helicopter made a hard landing at the Uprun airfield in the Chelyabinsk region. On board the car owned by the Ministry of Defense was a crew of three people, all of them independently left the board. After the accident, the helicopter caught fire, but firefighters who quickly arrived at the scene of the emergency extinguished it.
