His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, received the family of the couple’s doctors, Pat and Mariana Kennedy, the founders of the “Canada” Hospital (previously Oasis), who contributed to the development of health care, especially for newborns in Al Ain , Since the 1960s.
During the meeting, which took place in Al-Bahar Palace in Abu Dhabi, His Highness welcomed the Kennedy family, appreciating the role played by the couple, Pat and Mariana, in developing health care in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, and Al Ain in particular.
His Highness said: “We would like to express our thanks and appreciation to two people who have made their mark on the establishment of health care in the country since its beginnings,” expressing the appreciation of the UAE and its loyalty to everyone who contributed to the journey of progress and development.
His Highness added that the two doctors came to the region at a difficult time, but they contributed their efforts and sincerity in helping the families to overcome many health difficulties, so they have the credit for helping the birth of more than 100,000 children since the beginning of their work.
For their part, members of the Kennedy family, accompanied by His Highness Sheikh Diab bin Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Chairman of the Diwan of the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, expressed their gratitude to His Highness, and expressed their happiness at honoring the Abu Dhabi government to the family, by naming the hospital as “Canada” in appreciation of the services provided by those Who served Al Ain community over the past six decades, and in fulfillment of their efforts.
It is mentioned that His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, directing the name of "Kind" to the Oasis Hospital in Al Ain, in appreciation and gratitude for the role played by the founders of the hospital, the couple Pat and Mariana Kennedy, in developing health care, especially in the area of newborn care in the city Al Ain, since the sixties of the last century, to document the common name of the hospital, which is known among the residents of Al Ain, and to promote the values of coexistence and tolerance in society. During the past year, the hospital celebrated the birth of about 120 thousand children since its foundation.
