Al-Duhail's Qatari club announced Tuesday that it has recruited Croatian striker Mario Mandzukic, who is short of playing time at Juventus Turin.

Al-Duhail shows on his Twitter account Mandzukic, 33, initialing a contract, accompanied by the comment in English "Welcome to Al-Duhail".

The arrival in Qatar of the 2018 vice-world champion, whom Maurizio Sarri no longer wanted Juve, had been the subject of speculation in the Italian media for several days.

At Al-Duhail, Mandzukic will find his former Juventus teammate Mehdi Benatia.

Mandzukic, 33 goals in 89 caps with Croatia, arrived in Turin in 2015. He won four Italian champion titles, three Italian Cups, a Super Cup but failed to clinch a second Champions League after the one won in 2013 with Bayern, losing the 2017 final to Real Madrid.

He had previously worn the colors of Atlético Madrid (2014-2015), Bayern Munich (2012-2014), Wolfsburg (2010-2012), and Dinamo Zagreb (2007-2010).
