The forces of the Libyan National Accord government announced, on Sunday, their rejection of the deadline set by the forces of retired Major General Khalifa Hifter for the withdrawal of Misurata forces from the cities of Tripoli and Sirte, in the west of the country.

"The extension of Haftar's deadline for Misurata to withdraw is only a justification for its failure in the zero hour to storm Tripoli, which was previously announced," said Mustafa al-Majei, a spokesman for the media center for the "Berkane Fury" of the Libyan government of reconciliation.

The Turkish Anatolia Agency quoted al-Maji as denying statements to the spokesperson of the Haftar Forces, Ahmad al-Mesmari, in which he said that a delegation representing the city of Misurata had entered into negotiations with them.

Al-Majei indicated that the city "announced earlier the state of al-Nafeer and chose to confront and repel Haftar's aggression against the capital."

And Friday, the spokesman for the forces of Haftar Ahmad al-Mismari vowed to continue bombing the city of Misrata daily with air strikes in the event that the city forces did not withdraw from Tripoli and Sirte, within a period of three days that was supposed to end on Sunday evening.

But Haftar's forces announced the extension of the deadline granted to the city of Misrata in western Libya for another three days in order to withdraw its forces from the southern axes of the capital, Tripoli, and the city of Sirte, in the center of the country.

Al-Mismari returned to say that this renewal came after the communication of personalities from the city of Misurata, pledging not to subject the withdrawing forces until the end of the period.

Al-Jazeera correspondent in Libya stated that more than nine gunmen of Haftar forces were killed in clashes with the forces of the National Accord Government, in the Yarmouk axis, south of Tripoli, while two of the reconciliation forces were killed.

The Yarmouk axis is witnessing intermittent clashes with heavy weapons between the two sides. The Al-Wefaq government forces confirmed that they are continuing to maintain their full positions, after repelling an attack by Haftar forces backed by elements of the Russian Wagner Company.

Ross's mercenaries
Meanwhile, the Washington Post revealed that more than a thousand Russian mercenaries of the "Wagner" group linked to the Kremlin, are fighting in Libya, according to US and Western officials and senior Libyan leaders.

In addition to Russian financial and diplomatic support for Haftar, Moscow has printed billions of Libyan dinars for Haftar to pay the salaries of his forces and include tribes to support him, the newspaper said.

The Washington Post revealed that senior US officials met Haftar in the Jordanian capital, Amman, to persuade him to accept the ceasefire.

The Washington Post added that the UAE, which deployed drones in support of Haftar, is now working with Russian mercenaries to support it.
