This is therefore good news for parents of children traveling alone: ​​after announcing the suspension for the weekend of its service for 4-14 year-olds, SNCF has backtracked. As of this Sunday, December 22, and despite the strike, 5,000 seats are available in fourteen exceptional TGVs for the youngest.

In detail, seven round-trip trips are offered, as of this Sunday, December 22, to all these children traveling alone from Paris to major cities: Rennes, Nantes, Bordeaux, Lyon, Marseille, Strasbourg and Lille. However small flat, for security reasons, the intermediate stations are not served.

No TGV from province to province

And TGV from province to province cannot be insured, said SNCF. A few days ago, the French railway company, again for safety reasons, and, because of the strikes, decided - at first - the outright suspension of its junior coaching service. A decision that had started a controversy and which had been very badly received by thousands of families taken of course.

But everything is back to normal. This new device was made possible following the truce announced by some of the drivers and the resumption of work for some for Christmas. 5,000 children will be reunited with their families for the holidays. And for the return, an “ equivalent device ” will be put in place next weekend.

Getting organized is a headache

Four days before Christmas, the SNCF strike continues : Saturday December 21 was the 17th day of mobilization. Only half of the TGVs and a quarter of the Intercités operated. Many dysfunctions have plagued the company's website. Cancellations and postponements, exchanges and refunds ... For travelers at Montparnasse station, getting organized accordingly is a headache ...
