In the first reaction to the Maslata attack, the President of the Presidential Council of the Libyan National Accord Government, Fayez al-Sarraj, said that what he described as terrorist criminal acts committed by the forces of retired Major General Khalifa Hifter in the city, would not pass without a severe response on the battlefields.

This came in a meeting of al-Sarraj, which was attended by Khaled al-Mashri, head of the Supreme Council of State, with a delegation from the city of Amslata, including the city's wise men and notables, and a discussion of the city's conditions under the current circumstances.

Three people were killed in Amslata - located east of Tarhuna - as a result of raids launched by Emirati aircraft supporting Haftar, according to the media center for the "anger volcano" of the government of reconciliation.

Haftar militants stationed on the outskirts of Imsalat fired eight Grad rockets at residential neighborhoods in the city center, from which the Al-Wefaq government forces withdrew after controlling for hours in the Dawoun area east of Tarhuna.

For its part, the Council of Representatives in the capital Tripoli condemned the silence of the international community over the bombing of Libyan cities behind the fighting lines, with the support and care of Arab and European countries.

In a statement, the Council affirmed that this silence will not discourage Libyans from repelling the aggression and the prosecution and accountability of those responsible and those who support it.

The council said that the bombing of retired brigades and warplanes of Khalifa Hafter, for the cities of Misurata, Zliten and Amslata, is a violation of national and international laws and Security Council resolutions on Libya.

The statement called on the government of national reconciliation to accelerate what it called for the liberation of cities under Haftar’s control, after activating the memorandum of military and security cooperation with Turkey.
