Fiber is often pulled under the ground. But for example, in watercourses, cables are visible and easily accessible. Just then it was at the site in Bergvik where Per Hedquist checked out about half past eight on Monday morning.

- We bump into people on the spot who are still left and who appear suspicious so we back away and wait. When these people then choose to leave, we follow but unfortunately we lose them on the road, says Pär Edquist.

How serious would you say it is with the clipped cable?

- I think it's very serious, everyone today needs the internet and this is a disaster, says Pär Edquist.

Maybe copper thieves

The fiber problem in Bergvik has been solved provisionally and a more lasting solution is on the way. Pär Edquist suspects that the perpetrators were looking for copper given that the cable was cut in one place, but no safe answers exist, except that the people who were at the site did not bring any copper.

Per Hedquist says that the solution in Bergvik is to dig down the cable to provide better protection.

- We will look at the possibility of pulling this cable somewhere else, but it is a big project and it costs a lot of money, he says.
