The Paris Stock Exchange was down slightly (-0.07%) Thursday at midday, after monetary decisions without surprise from the Banks of Japan and England, the investors not doing much for the impeachment of Donald Trump.

At 1:23 p.m. (12:23 p.m. GMT), the CAC 40 index fell from 3.91 points to 5,955.69 points, in a trading volume of 896 million. The day before, it had finished in very slight decline of 0.15%.

The Parisian rating started off stable before remaining close to breakeven.

Wall Street was also preparing to start without direction. The futures contract on the flagship Dow Jones Industrial Average gained 0.09%, that on the broad S&P 500 index 0.03% and that on the Nasdaq, with a strong technological coloring, was perfectly stable.

"The financial markets welcomed the news of Donald Trump's + impeachment + by the House of Representatives with a collective shrug," noted Michael Hewson, an analyst at CMC Markets, in a note.

On Wednesday evening, the Democrat-dominated US House of Representatives voted in favor of Donald Trump's "impeachment" for "abuse of power". It is now up to the Senate to judge it, probably in January.

"The reality is that no one cares (about this vote) since it is highly unlikely that the Senate will ratify the procedure," said Hewson.

In terms of indicators, the business climate in France remained stable in December compared to the previous month, supported in particular by the retail trade which experienced a slight increase despite the strikes.

As expected, the Bank of England decided on Thursday to keep its key interest rate at 0.75%. Before it, the Central Bank of Japan (BoJ) also unsurprisingly opted for the monetary status quo.

In the United States, the resale of housing for November will complete the agenda.
