The survey shows that 90 percent of taxi drivers drive faster than the permissible speed of the road sections studied. The selected roads have a speed limit of 80 kilometers per hour and a large proportion of taxi traffic. One route is the E4 between Stockholm and Arlanda. The other is highway 40 between Gothenburg and Landvetter.
-Taxis are worse at keeping speed than other car drivers. This means that taxis help to raise the speed levels on the roads studied, says Anna Vadeby, senior researcher at VTI who led the study, in a press release.
The measurements were made between April and June 2017 and 2019.
