Reinvigorated by the victory of her party, the SNP, in the British legislative elections on December 12, the Scottish Prime Minister believes that there is now reason to request a new consultation.

Nicola Sturgeon sets out his arguments in a 39-page document, entitled Constitutional and Democratic File, published on the official website of his government. She wants to get the green light from the British government for a transfer of power that would authorize the Scottish Parliament to hold a referendum on independence .

" Scotland made it very clear last week that it did not want the Conservative government led by Boris Johnson to get it out of the EU and take it down a path we did not choose, " said Nicola Sturgeon.

Massive rejection of Brexit in Scotland

In a Scotland that rejected Brexit at 62% and which gave 47 of the 59 seats to the SNP last week, Nicola Sturgeon believes that she has received a clear mandate to organize a new independence referendum. Prime Minister Boris Johnson has already expressed opposition to it. Nothing to cool the heat of Nicola Sturgeon.

"The Tories must choose between accepting this referendum in a reasonable manner as it did in 2014 and blocking it, " added the Scottish Prime Minister. Which, frankly, would make my job much easier to convince people that the best future for Scotland is to be independent. "

A first independence referendum organized in 2014 had granted the victory to 55% to the proponents of the maintenance within the United Kingdom.
