Gunay Qaqat, 44, an official of a tourism company in Turkey, said he was obese as a result of fast and unregulated eating, work pressure and lack of movement.

He added that he visited the obesity treatment center at the Sultan Murad I Governmental Hospital in the governorate of Edirne, and he succeeded in losing thirty kilograms of weight in six months.

He explained that he started showing health problems as a result of his extra weight, which reached 115, which led him to consult doctors in the aforementioned hospital.

He pointed out that the weight loss from 115 to 85 kilograms came as a result of following a nutritional program put in place for him by the specialized doctors in the obesity center in the Sultan Murad I Hospital.

He expressed his happiness about being able to lose weight naturally without any surgery.

In turn, Ali Genghis Qalqan, director of health in the state of Edirne, said that the center for obesity treatment in Edirne served 120 people during the first year of its opening.

Bariatric centers began naturally without surgery to reap the benefits in Turkey, a year after it was opened by the Turkish government.

The opening of these centers comes within the framework of the first hundred-day work plan that the Turkish presidency put in place last year, and included the opening of thirty centers for obesity treatment across the country, including the center for the treatment of obesity in Edirne, which deals with qaqat.
