According to investigators, on December 15, near the cafe in Serpukhov, police officers detained a man who was intoxicated. The man became ill at the police station. The ambulance crew who arrived on call ascertained his death.

“According to preliminary expert data, the death of a man came from mechanical asphyxia due to compression of the chest and abdomen. Thus, the police officers who carried out the detention and delivery of the man to the Serpukhovskoye Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia suffered bodily injuries as a result of which the victim died by negligence, ”the ministry said in a statement.

In November, the UK announced the start of an audit in connection with the discovery of the body of the accused in the pre-trial detention center of Serpukhov near Moscow.

Earlier it became known that in Sakhalin three police officers were sentenced to imprisonment for using violence and threats against a detained woman, allegedly with the aim of persuading her to plead guilty to embezzlement of funds.

The court found the police guilty of abuse of power with violence and violation of citizens' rights.

The defendants were sentenced to imprisonment from three to four and a half years in a penal colony of the general regime with a ban on holding posts related to the exercise of the functions of a government official for three years.

In Primorye, a criminal case was also opened on abuse of authority in respect of three officers of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, who are suspected of using illegal methods of investigation against a local resident who witnessed the crime.
