The first results of the test drilling for the metal vanadium in Lyby outside Hörby in central Skåne have now arrived. The company's CEO David Minchin said in a press release that the test drilling combined showed that "Skåne has the potential to supply the world with one of the battery metals needed for the climate change".
"May be 117 million tons"According to analyzes carried out after the test drilling, there may be approximately 117 million tonnes of vanadium in the study area. But parts of this are too close to development to be possible to extract, according to the company.
The same companies want to test drill in Österlen, but have been met by strong protests from mining opponents.
No plans to move on right nowDespite the find in Lyby, Scandivanadium currently has no plans to proceed in the process of applying for a mining permit. The next step will be further tests of the material taken up in Hörby and test drilling in several places in Skåne.
- We will not make a decision on how to proceed in Hörby until we have been drilled in the other areas of Skåne where we have exploration permits. During 2020, priority will be given to creating acceptance and understanding in the local community for our operations, says David Minchin in the press release.
