This was stated by Ukrainian Prime Minister Aleksey Goncharuk.

“The government has improved the procedure for granting Ukrainian citizenship to persons who have been politically persecuted for protecting Ukraine, its territorial integrity and sovereignty,” he wrote on Telegram.

According to him, the new order allows you to identify citizens convicted of political motives in their country for supporting Ukraine, and at the same time prevent the provision of citizenship to convicts for grave and especially grave crimes on grounds other than political.

Earlier, Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelensky introduced into the Verkhovna Rada a bill “On Amending Certain Laws of Ukraine on Citizenship”.

In August Zelensky signed a decree by which he expanded the list of persons entitled to Ukrainian citizenship, including Russian citizens who were “persecuted for political convictions”.
