She stated this in an interview with Ukrinform.

“A person who publicly acts as an official or gives comments as a representative of authority is obliged to use the state language. If he violates this rule of law, then they can complain about it. We will consider the complaint, first conduct an explanatory conversation, and will not help - we will write a fine. The maximum fine, as I said, is 700 non-taxable minimums, ”she said.

Monakhova added that the analytical department of the Ombudsman will also monitor the information space in case officials do not speak Ukrainian, but they do not receive complaints.

Earlier, Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky said that Ukrainian citizens can speak any language, including Russian.

In July, OSCE High Commissioner Lamberto Zannier said that language policy in Ukraine violates the rights of national minorities and introduces elements of discrimination.
