The first is that the Republican president has abused his power by trying, through pressure, to get Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyj to investigate Trump's political rival Joe Biden and his son.

"President Trump has realized the worst nightmare of constitutional fathers. He has abused his power by urging and pushing a vulnerable country to influence the US presidential election by sabotaging a political opponent and embracing a conspiracy theory put forward by our enemy, Russia, ”the Justice Committee writes in the report.

"Unparalleled in US history"

According to the second indictment, Trump has obstructed Congress's investigation into the incident.

"Other presidents have acknowledged their obligation to provide information to Congress in such circumstances," the report says, adding that Trump's refusal to communicate "is unparalleled in US history."

Expected to vote yes

The House of Representatives, where the Democrats are in the majority, is expected to vote yes to the prosecution on Wednesday, after which the matter will pass to the Senate.

There, however, the Republicans, who regard the process as unfair and politicized, have a majority, which is why the likelihood is very low that Trump will fall.
