On Monday afternoon, an extra regional meeting will be held at Operation Rimfrost. Right now, Skåne has been given extra resources, but after this weekend's shootings in both Uppsala and Västerås, a transfer of resources may be necessary.

- Region Mid is one of the regions that may be given extra resources when we are ready in the South. When and how extensive we cannot answer right now. There may be reconsiderations during the journey, says Robert Wallén, commander in chief of Operation Rimfrost in the Mitt region.

Operation Rimfrost is a national special effort that is run both nationally and regionally. The operation started in connection with a series of serious acts of violence in Malmö earlier this fall.

Hard to predict shootings

He says that Rimfrost's mission is to break the trend and see what can be done ahead to reduce the number of shootings.

- To look at individuals and networks, individuals we judge stands for or will be involved in future shootings, he says.

According to Robert Wallén, it is a matter of several networks and individuals acting in different constellations, conflicts involving money and drugs, sometimes with national and international connections.

- That is why it is very difficult for us to predict exactly when a shooting will occur and between which individuals.

"A safe place to stay"

A common factor in the crime that Rimfrost should counteract is exclusion.

- Much of what is behind the conflicts is linked to vulnerable or particularly vulnerable areas. We also see that young men are attracted to these networks and that they are getting older.

Although there have been 28 shootings in Uppsala so far in 2019, Roger Wallén believes that it is a safe place to live.

- The risk of being exposed to this type of crime is very low. But it is dangerous when shooting in a public environment - there is always the risk of third parties being injured. It is quite natural that this creates a concern.
