The water has risen close to 30 centimeters since Wednesday: 47 meters and 30 centimeters above sea level, according to the latest survey. And more rain is expected this week.

- It has continued to increase but to a much slower extent. On the other hand, we have a week in anticipation that can contain a lot of rainfall and then we think it can speed up and increase again, says the rescue chief Mattias Larsson.

The emergency services plan to work in staff positions until Christmas, but it may be longer than that. The water in Stadsparken can thus be expected to remain for a while.

Class 1 warning

Already, the situation is strained along the Glafsfjorden and Byälven down to Säffle. Roads have been flooded and homeowners see their basements threatened. A barrier has been set up between Kattviken and Järnvägsgatan in Arvika and another barrier may be erected at Strandvägen. SMHI has issued a Class 1 warning for Byälven and the forecast is that it will last all week.

- In some places there have been injuries, but at higher levels than this when the really big injuries occur and we are not there yet, says Mattias Larsson.

Hope for the cold button

On Thursday and Friday, minus degrees are expected in Arvika, but it is more than necessary to calm the water flow.

- A real cold snap that is persistent would be positive. If it gets really cold, the runoff decreases quite dramatically and we get a much more positive situation, says Mattias Larsson.
