The Vice President of the Fishermen’s Association in Ras Al Khaimah, Hamid Al Zaabi, told «Emirates Today» that the new expansion launched by the Ras Al Khaimah Municipality for the two markets of Al Mairid and Ras Al Khaimah to sell fish, finally, contributed to reducing the consumption of selling shops belonging to fish traders from snow by one million dirhams Annually, as a result of the installation of refrigeration devices in the two markets, which kept low temperatures in sales shops after the completion of the recent maintenance and expansion work.

He explained that there are 83 shops for selling fish, of which 45 are in the market of Al-Mairid, and 38 in the market of Ras Al-Khaimah, and each store provided three bags of ice per day at a value of 36 dirhams, after installing cooling devices in the two markets.

He pointed out that the municipality did not impose any fees on fishermen after the expansion and renovation work, which contributed to the recovery of the fish market in Ras Al Khaimah. He explained that the municipality of Ras Al Khaimah responded to the public’s comments regarding the provision of modern devices in sales shops to serve the citizens ’fishermen, expanding the market, increasing the number of parking lots to increase consumer turnout, and providing a waiting break.
