The Supreme Council for the Amazigh of Libya confirmed its rejection of multiple offers from the Emirates, including large sums of money, in exchange for their support for the retired Major General Khalifa Hifter or taking a neutral stance towards his forces ’attack on Tripoli.

In an interview with Al-Jazeera, one of the council members said that a dependent delegation had informed an Emirati delegation that Abu Dhabi's bet on Haftar's support was a "catastrophic mistake" and would not have any results, as the Berbers rejected their control of the country.

It is noteworthy that the Supreme Council for the Amazigh of Libya is the legal and political representative internally and externally for the Amazigh of Libya, and it is formed after elections in their areas of presence.

Hifter announced Thursday evening the start of what he said was a "decisive process" for advancing towards the capital, Tripoli.

However, the forces of the internationally recognized government of National Accord confirmed that the situation is "under control" and that it maintains all its military positions south of the capital, where the fighting has been concentrated since Haftar began its attack more than eight months ago.

"Our forces are ready to confront any new mad attempt by the putschist Haftar," said the Interior Minister of the government, Fathi Pashaga, considering the announcement by the retired brigade "a new desperate attempt."

Foreign Minister Mohamed Siala had previously denounced the UAE's "hostile" position by making its capital a media platform for Haftar militias to incite Tripoli, calling on the UN Security Council to intervene, after Ahmed Al-Misfari, a spokesman for Haftar's forces, held a press conference in Abu Dhabi.

In a letter that Siyala presented to the Security Council, he said that the UAE’s actions are in support of the aggressors against the Libyan capital, and to help them kill Libyans, and support them to commit more violations and war crimes.
