In the aftermath of its mega peaceful demonstration in the Eternal City, the Sardine movement, which has gathered in tight benches in the squares of Italy for a month to raise awareness and combat all forms of extremism, violence and discrimination, gathered 150 delegates in Rome. Objective: to define the procedure to be followed during the period preceding the regional elections in Emilia-Romagna.

The Sardines will continue their gathering in the squares , those of the cities but also of the suburbs to "fight the monster of sovereignism and put an end to the simplistic promises of populism".

Their goal is to convince one in four voters. The assembly of regional delegates confirmed, through their spokesperson Mattia Santori , that the Sardines, facing left, neither want to form a party nor present a civic list for regional in Emilia-Romagna, the largest stronghold of the left for 70 years that the leader of the Sovereignist League, Matteo Salvini, hopes to conquer during the vote of January 26, 2020.

This movement, which will soon present a ten-point action program, intends to act, above all, through dialogue. " We do not want to order or decide for others but to involve the population in a common reflection, to change policy. This requires getting out of the virtual universe , ”said Mattia Santori.
