According to Shafir, the causes of Nenashev’s death are being established.

Nenashev served as Minister of Press and Information of the USSR from July to November 1991. Also, over the years, he was chairman of the USSR State Radio and Television, headed the USSR State Committee for Publishing, Printing and Book Trade, and was also editor-in-chief of the newspaper Sovetskaya Rossiya.

He is a Honored Worker of Culture of Russia, a doctor of historical sciences. Nenashev wrote more than 30 books.
