2017 - The erotic retailer Beate Uhse applies for bankruptcy proceedings due to impending insolvency.

2009 - Boeing's dreamliner “Dreamliner” succeeds in a smooth maiden flight after a three-year delay: The jet takes off from the Boeing airfield in Everett near Seattle (Washington State) and remains in the air for around three hours.

2004 - The European Parliament advocates the opening of EU accession negotiations with Turkey.

1999 - The SPD politician Sigmar Gabriel is elected Prime Minister of Lower Saxony.

1979 - Vera Brühne is released from prison after more than 18 years in prison. She was sentenced to life imprisonment in an evidence trial in 1962. Brühne is said to have murdered her lover and his housekeeper. She had always pleaded innocence. She had been pardoned in May 1979.
