Paris (dpa) - The strikes against the planned pension reform are to be continued in France for the second weekend in a row. The Paris transport operator RATP said that major disruptions in local transport in the capital are expected for Saturday.
Nine metro lines should therefore remain completely closed on Saturday. The traffic with buses is secured to 60 percent, according to RATP, trams should run in normal intervals.
Long-distance transport should also remain severely restricted on Saturday, as the SNCF announced. According to SNCF, only one of four planned TGV high-speed trains will run on Saturday. In the coming week, the state railway will publish a timetable, in which the train traffic will be announced in the event of a strike over the Christmas days.
Various professional groups have stopped working for more than a week. Demonstrations are again expected in Paris and other cities on Saturday.
