Fiorentina midfielder Franck Ribery has had ankle surgery and will be sidelined for at least 10 weeks, the Tuscan club announced on Saturday.

Ribéry, 36, was the victim of a violent tackle from Lecce player Panagiotis Tachtsidis on December 1 in Serie A.

According to the press release, he underwent stabilization treatment in Germany which was "perfectly successful".

The former Bayern Munich player will return to Florence on Sunday to start physiotherapy treatment, and will begin rehabilitation in two weeks.

"Ribéry's return is expected in ten weeks," said the club.

Fiorentina are on a streak of four consecutive losses and occupy 13th place in Series A, five points from the relegation zone.
