In Gabon, Brice Laccruche Alihanga, the former cabinet director of Ali Bongo, was placed under warrant on Friday 13 December. With him, three former ministers who are very close to him.
Noël Mboumba, ex-minister of petroleum, Roger Owono Mba, ex-minister of Economy as well as Tony Ondo ex-minister of Energy are all prosecuted for financial embezzlement , embezzlement of public funds, money laundering in organized gangs, concussion and false and use of false.
Massive embezzlement of public funds
Expected in court at 9 a.m., the four former ministers were brought before the Special Court at 1 p.m. The examining magistrate awarded each his warrant.
Brice Laccruche Alihanga was the first to face the judges. His case is quite special. He is suspected of being the conductor of the massive embezzlement and money laundering that led to the hands-on operation which has already sent several of his relatives to prison.
Laccruche is not just anyone. Appointed chief of staff to the President of the Republic in August 2017, he became the most powerful man in Gabon during the convalescence of President Ali Bongo, victim of a stroke in October 2018.
" Intimate Messenger "
Brice Laccruche Alihanga placed his men everywhere. He was giving orders. At the height of glory last October, he undertook a republican tour by presenting himself to the population as the " intimate messenger " of Ali Bongo.
