December 14, 2019Sofia Goggia and Federica Brignone, the award-winning firm of women's alpine skiing medals. Goggia, first, and Brignone, second to just one cent, have signed a historic double in the World Cup super-giant in Sankt Moritz. The Swiss circuit in the history of Italian skiing in pink has given other satisfactions and doublets in the Cup and in SuperG. On December 21, 2001, Karen Putzer won ahead of Daniela Ceccarelli and December 19, 1999, still a Putzer winner before Alessandra Merlin.

For the Bergamo Goggia - 27 years, Olympic gold in descent and star of Italian sport - it is the 7th win of a career cup and the 26th podium. His was as always an overwhelming ride and all the attack in which, however, managed to control and guide his skis to the end. Sofia started with bib number 16 when her partner Federica Brignone was in charge and, bib number 9, had come down with the usual elegant power to which the legendary Shiffrin had already bowed and ended up behind her. Sofia at the first intermediate found herself in command of 11 cents on a track as difficult as ever, above two thousand meters of altitude. At the second intermediate time, however, the chronometers gave her a delay of 22 cents on Federica. But at the third he was again in the lead of 14 after having landed very long on the central jump to witness the strong speed. It was shortly after that on a bump Goggia lost the grip of the left stick and preferred to almost get rid of it reaching the winning goal but without a stick, a situation that does not create too many problems only to the great champions.

For the Valdostana, Brignone, 29 and above all an excellent gigantist, is the 30th podium. Losing the victory by just one cent is obviously burned. But the new blue double of which she was the protagonist however gave her great satisfaction.
