“There can be only one conclusion - the EU is still held hostage by an incorrect, I would even say, false assessment of the reasons for resolving the conflict in the south-east of Ukraine ... The current solution - the extension of sanctions - pours another portion of gasoline into the fire that burns in the south -tail of Ukraine. Since, thus, the Ukrainian authorities once again remain outside of criticism and do not receive any motivation to fulfill their part of the Minsk agreements, ”said Kosachev.

The senator noted that such a decision “causes deepest regret” and makes the EU “responsible for the non-fulfillment of the Minsk agreements by Ukraine”.

Earlier, the head of the European Council, Charles Michel, announced the extension of sanctions against Russia, extended by the European Union for six months.
