The first time he was introduced as coach for AFC Eskilstuna was ahead of the 2014 season. Then Özcan Melkemichel took the team all the way from Division 1 to for the first time in the club's history to get a place in the Allsvenskan.
At the end of 2016 he took over as coach for Djurgårdens IF, and during the first season he managed to take the Stockholm team to a third place in the Allsvenskan. At the end of 2018, it was clear that there would be no extension with Djurgården, and he has been free on the market ever since.
Now the success coach returns to the AFC - who had a tough year in the All-Swan and will thus play in the Superett next season.
