“We consider this controversy unacceptable, because we are talking about actual pressure,” said Zakharova.

She noted that there are examples of similar pressure from Washington on a number of other states, not only Turkey, and not only on the S-400 or issues related to Russia.

According to her, over the past years, Washington has been using a sanctions policy “in those matters in which it is necessary to realize their own interests, and the negotiation process is either not enough or not enough resources to implement existing and legitimate methods to achieve the goals that reflect national interests.”

Zakharova emphasized that a policy of pressure or intimidation is unacceptable in the existing coordinate system of international relations.

Earlier, an international committee of the US Senate approved a bill providing for the imposition of sanctions against Turkey for the purchase of Russian S-400 systems.

Turkish Foreign Ministry condemned this decision.

The first deputy chairman of the State Duma Committee on Defense Alexander Sherin commented on the situation in an interview with RT.
