Today, Thursday, Moroccan King Mohammed VI called on the Islamic world to move beyond the "abhorrent" causes and factors of division and sectarianism, in a message to the participants in the celebration of the fiftieth anniversary of the founding of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation.

The Moroccan King said that the Islamic world's commemoration of the fiftieth anniversary of the establishment of the organization comes "in light of a precise international circumstance and a very complex situation, overshadowed by the crises that erupted in some of the member states of the organization, and whose repercussions were regionally exacerbated, and by which the distressing divisions and sectarianism escalated, and the phenomenon of extremism and terrorism grew in them. ".

He added, "Therefore, it has become urgent to address the causes and factors that led to this situation, foreshadowing many risks, and sincere work to resolve inter-differences, and the adoption of mechanisms to protect our organization from the risks of fragmentation and division."

He also said that "attempts by some quarters to exploit this crisis situation to stoke separatism or to redraw the map of our Islamic world should be confronted on grounds that ignore the facts of history and identities, interfere with the destinies of nations, and threaten international security and stability."

He added that "an accurate and objective diagnosis of the current situation in the Islamic world, and its evaluation in an impartial and profound manner, would help to overcome this difficult stage, by developing and implementing appropriate development strategies and programs, in full observance of the national peculiarities, and on the foundations of solidarity and cooperation on which the Organization's Charter is based."

And he read the message of the Moroccan Monarch, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Nasser Bouraita, in a celebration marking the fiftieth anniversary of the founding of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation in Rabat under the slogan "Morocco is a renewal and action."

Al-Jazeera correspondent in Morocco, Mukhtar Al-Ablawi, said that the Moroccan king also affirmed Morocco's commitment to support the Palestinian cause, and called on the international community to put a new map to solve this issue within a specific time frame according to international legitimacy resolutions, stressing that its solution will contribute to peace in the Middle East.

The organization, which includes 57 members, was established on September 25, 1969 in response to the burning of the Al-Aqsa Mosque in August of the same year at the initiative of the late Moroccan King Hassan II and the late Saudi monarchs Faisal bin Abdul Aziz and the Jordanian Hussein Bin Talal.
