According to the Ipsos study, RT is among the top five most popular international news channels by weekly audience in 10 countries in Latin America. For more than a year, the RT RT site in Spanish has been bypassing the Spanish versions of the BBC, Euronews, France 24 and teleSUR (SimilarWeb) in attendance.
On YouTube, RT en Español leads the way in all Spanish-language information channels, bypassing the Spanish-language versions of the BBC, CNN, Euronews and teleSUR in terms of views. It is 18 times ahead of CNN en Español in Facebook video views and almost 10 times ahead of BBC News Mundo.
RT correspondents covered the migration crisis and protests in Latin America, the independence movement in Catalonia and other events. In November 2019, RT was the first of the international media to record a large interview with President-elect of Argentina Alberto Fernandez. Former Ecuadorian President Rafael Correa hosts the weekly talk show Talk with Correa on RT.
RT in Spanish became the first foreign television channel to launch broadcasting in the state networks of Argentina and Venezuela, gaining access to national audiences.
