Marie Wattel took the title of champion of France in the small pool of the 100 m by signing a new record of France and swimming faster than the recent champion of Europe, in 51 sec 45, Thursday in Angers.

Wattel, 22, was ahead of Charlotte Bonnet (52.04). The sprinter who trains in Loughborough, England, even swam four hundredths faster than British Freya Anderson, crowned European champion last week in Glasgow.

"I'm really happy I was not very confident after my race this morning (Thursday) I was a little stressed before the final, it really gave me confidence to see that I was in front of Charlotte (Bonnet "Wattel tells me, I managed to free myself tonight, I beat France's record, it's great."

Beryl Gastaldello, triple individual European medalist in the Scottish Basin (100 m, 50 m butterfly and 50 m back), was imposed on 50 backstroke (26.21).

David Aubry won the 400m in 3: 40.30, within range of his best performance over the distance set last week in Glasgow (03: 39.99).

"It was hard, very hard, my legs and arms ached, the last turns were complicated, I do not go under 3 minutes 40 seconds but it's still my second best time, so I'm pretty satisfied, "says Aubry.
