More than six in ten French people (61%) did not find Édouard Philippe convincing during his presentation of the pension reform project and 68% believe the strike movement justified, according to an Odoxa poll released Thursday.

Two-thirds of French people (67%) heard the Prime Minister's speech on Wednesday or comments on his speech. But only 38% of respondents found it convincing.

If 54% found it "clear" in its explanations, they are only 39% to think that it presented a reform putting in place a system of retirement "just and durable", according to this investigation with Dentsu consulting for the Figaro and France Info.

For 42% of respondents, Édouard Philippe showed that he understood the concerns of the French, but he "reassured" only 29% of all.

After his speech, more than two in three French believe that the strike against the pension reform is "justified", against 32% of a contrary opinion. The same proportions as in a previous survey published on December 4, the day before the first day of mobilization against the government project.

The youngest are the most opposed to the reform, with 76% of people born "from 1975" who judge the strike movement justified, for only 55% of 65 years and over.

Several measures announced by the Prime Minister are however welcomed by the French, including the minimum pension raised to 1,000 euros (81%), and the French are still in favor (63%) to the elimination of special pension plans.

Maintaining the legal age of departure at 62, "but to encourage the French to work longer by establishing an age + balance + 64 years with a system of bonus / malus", divides however the French: 51% are there favorable, 48% opposed.

The implementation of a scheme by points is supported by 49% of respondents.

Two-thirds (66%) think retirees receiving "less than 1,000 euros" will "rather win" with this reform. But only 46% think that women will win.

For 56%, employees of the private sector will be losers and for 66% this will also be the case for "all employees in the public sector".

Survey conducted online December 11 and 12, after the speech of Édouard Philippe, to 1.002 French 18 years and over, according to the quota method. Margin of error from 1.4 to 3.1 points.
