“The federal government takes note with regret of the decision of the Russian government to declare two persons of the German Embassy in Moscow personified as non-grata,” the statement reads on the website of the German Foreign Ministry.

The German Foreign Ministry also said that this decision of Moscow "sends the wrong signal and is unjustified."

Earlier in Germany, two persons of the Russian Embassy in Berlin were declared persona non grata.

According to German Chancellor Angela Merkel, the corresponding decision was caused by the fact that Moscow demonstrates insufficient efforts to cooperate in the investigation of the murder of a Georgian citizen in Berlin in August.

In turn, the Russian Foreign Ministry said that, guided by the principle of reciprocity, it was decided to declare non-grata two employees of the German embassy in Russia.
