Two years ago, the first residents moved into the then newly built residential area Fullerö hage, which lies along the E4 just south of Storvreta. Today, around 1,000 people live here. But still there is no public transport in the area - even though it was planned from the ground up.

- I expected that when we moved here - that buses would go into the area, says Caroline Bahrman, resident of Fullerö hage.

And Caroline Barhman is not alone. Many residents with whom SVT Uppsala has been in contact are disappointed at Uppsala municipality, as they feel that planning around the public transport for the housing area has not been done properly from the beginning.

At the moment, the nearest stop for the residential area is at County Road 290. Where the bus between Uppsala and Storvreta goes.

Continued expansion

And more households and housing are expected to be added in the future. Currently, there are several construction projects in place for both villas and apartments. At the drawing board, there are currently preschool and senior housing as well as elementary school.

- The municipality has known about this extension for so long, says Caroline Bahrman.

From UL's side, it is stated that the reason why buses do not drive into Fullerö pasture is that the exit at road 290 is not adapted for bus traffic.

"It needs other infrastructure to enable us to cross a line there," says Gabriella Canas, regional community planner at UL.

"According to plan"

On the part of the municipality, you state that you are working on a solution. The plan is to tie Storvreta together with Fullerö garden with a road - and in that way get to public transport.

- We work according to that plan, says Ylva Stadell (S), chairman of the Planning and Building Committee at Uppsala Municipality.

That road, and thus bus traffic, is expected to be completed in three to five years at the earliest.

"You should have come further," says Caroline Barhman.

However, an earlier minor improvement is already planned for next year. The Swedish Transport Administration is expected to improve the bus stop at County Road 290, to create a more secure access to the bus stop.
