How to explain a jihadist attack of such magnitude in Inates in Niger?

The shock in Niger, shaken by a new jihadist attack. For the second time in six months, they attacked the Inates military base in the famous Three Borders zone, where Niger, Mali and Burkina Faso meet.

The attack lasted for hours, all communications were cut off, and it was not until evening that the Nigerian military could raise the alert.
