The list is topped by the Luleå CHP and Preem's oil refinery in Lysekil, closely followed by the Slite plant for the company Cementa.

"The iron and steel industry, the cement industry and the refineries account for the large emissions in the industrial sector," says Katarina Wärmark, climate analyst at the Swedish Environmental Protection Agency to the News Agency Siren, which has compiled the figures from the Swedish Environmental Protection Agency.

In the emissions, fossil carbon dioxide, methane and nitrous oxide have been converted to carbon dioxide equivalents, and have been reported by the companies themselves.

The plants that emit the most greenhouse gases in Östergötland are Gärstadverket, Händelöverket and the CHP plant in Linköping.
