It was at the end of last week that there were unrest at the Transten School in Hallsberg.

- There have been fights between different groups. There is a conflict that we have not come to the bottom of, which is the basis for these fights, ”says the Rector Jonas Bergman Wallin.

Police were called

The incidents resulted in police presence and direct action by the school to stop the conflicts and unrest.

- We have talked to a lot of guardians, we have had contact with both the police and the social services. I have made a number of decisions on suspensions based on having been involved in these fights and it has now created a pretty quiet school day for the students here, says Bergman Wallin.

Seven day suspension

The suspensions he has according to the school law have the opportunity to take for seven days. Five students are currently suspended.

- Then we will work with other efforts after that. These are young people who are under fifteen, so we will have other contacts with social authorities to work with them, he says.

Want to keep students at home

Several custodians of students who have not been involved have been in contact with the school after the events with the desire to keep their children at home, but the headmaster sees no reason for it.

- Here at school there is peace and quiet right now. There has been no fight and no fuss. It is between certain groups and some individuals that this occurs. There is nothing public at school.

- Much of this happening has escalated on social media. This creates a greater concern than we have seen that there is a justification for, says Jonas Bergman Wallin.
