12 December 2019The trial on the infiltration of the 'Ndrangheta in Valle D'Aosta opened today in the Court of Turin. In recent days the prosecutor has deposited new cards: it would be 800 pages of supplementary activities of the police of the Ros that would also concern the regional elections in Aosta Valley of 2018.

Nineteen defendants including the boss Bruno Nirta (known as 'The Beast'), referent of the Nirta-Scalzone clan of San Luca, regional councilor Marco Sorbara (elected to the ranks of the Union valdotaine), Monica Carcea, the councilor of a a small town on the outskirts of Aosta and the Turin lawyer Carlo Maria Romeo.

The accusations, in various ways, are mafia-type associations, attempted and consummated extortion, drug trafficking, possession and receiving of weapons, attempted political-mafia electoral exchange. The Valle D'Aosta Region, the Municipality of Aosta, the Municipality of Saint Pierre, the Libera association have asked to be a civil party.

Dda investigates the 2018 elections in Val d'Aosta
With the hypothesis of electoral corruption the Dda of Turin has opened an inquiry concerning the regional elections of 2018 in Valle d'Aosta. The investigations were conducted by the carabinieri of Aosta. In particular, some candidates and contacts with representatives of the Calabrian community living in Valled'Aosta were "monitored", some of whom were involved in the Gehenna investigation which led to 17 arrests last January.

"It seems, from rumors, that Antonio Fosson, president of Valle D'Aosta is indicated by the new investigative activities as beneficiary in electoral terms of the local Aosta". So the lawyer Raffaele Della Valle, defender of Marco Sorbara, regional councilor accused with 18 other people in the process for the infiltration of the 'Ndrangheta in Valle D'Aosta started today in Turin. "We don't believe in Fosson's involvement. That's why I want to have time to read the papers."
