China and Russia say they must ease the UN Security Council's resolution to sanction North Korea in order to advance the situation on the Korean peninsula.

China's Ambassador to the UN told reporters at the Security Council meeting to discuss North Korea's missile issues. "We must apply the" reversible provision "of the sanctions to North Korea as soon as possible.

Ambassador Chang said the backing of North American dialogue is a top priority, saying the Security Council needs to coordinate sanctions.

It is interpreted as reaffirming the current position that North Korea should promote negotiations with North Korea by easing sanctions, as North Korea has taken good faith measures such as suspending nuclear tests and intercontinental ballistic missiles.

Russia's ambassador to the UN, Vasily Nevenja, also said, "There was a positive momentum from last year, but there was a lack of positive action at the Security Council level. The only thing we need now is political decision."

Ambenja added, "It is important to draw North Korea's cooperation."
